Carolyn Jane Bates was born in 1937 and went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at the age of 75.
The Guest Book is expired.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Bates, and her mother Dorothy Stuard.
Paul and Jane had no children of their own. Jane was a wonderful wife and mother, and spent many years caring for her ailing loved ones. She had a big heart for people who had no one and became an adopted "mom" to many. She had a great love for animals, especially for cats that were abandoned by people who were not so caring. She gave them a home and lots of love.
She will be missed by many. She left a big, empty hole in the people's lives that helped her with her efforts in rescuing animals, taking care of her farm as she was aging and ill.
She was part of a group of motorcyclists called the Retreads for a time with Paul and later became part of the Tulie Roses Red Hats, where she had many friends. They will miss her.
Farewell Jane, and may you be happy in the Lord for eternity. We shall meet you again.
A graveside service at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Paul.
Pastor Mike Carwon from First Baptist Church of Tularosa will officiate.
A collection is being taken by the Red Hats. Proceeds will be given to Kitty City. For more information on the project, call Mabel Vance at 415-1524.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
