Eugene "Gene" Arthur Dehling, 70, of Alamogordo, cradled in the arms of Jesus, went to his eternal home in heaven on Monday morning, April 7.

Gene was born Oct. 9, 1943 in Wild Rose, Wis., the son of Arthur Henry and Gertrude Ester (Schwanke) Dehling of Westfield, Wis. He grew up farming with the family in both Marquette and Waushara Counties. He lived in Westfield from 1959-69.
On Dec. 12, 1964, in Wautoma, Wis., he married Jeannette M. Zinke. He worked at Wautoma Speed Queen. They farmed the Zinke Homestead in Richford, Wis., raising their two children.

In 1972, the Dehlings moved to Alamogordo and Gene worked for McMurry City Dairy and Flynn's Nursery. In 1989, the couple established Gene's Yard Care, which they operated for 24 years. The couple retired in 2013.
Gene was an active member of Alamogordo Grace United Methodist Church and will be remembered by the church family as a loyal greeter for the 8:30 a.m. service.
Businessmen, customers, family members and friends fondly remember Gene Dehling for his pride and extremely hard working ethics. He has always gone the extra mile.

Eugene died after a six-week battle with cancer. He will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Arvin Kohnke, Cambria, Wis.
