James A. Schaad, 79, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at his home in Alamogordo. He was born Nov. 24, 1933, in Derby, Ind., to Earl and Lessie Ramsey Schaad.

He proudly served his country with 26 years in the U.S. Air Force and 14 years with the National Park Service.
Survivors include wife Shirley, of the family home; daughters Sonia Grace and Brenda Marie, of Alamogordo; Lisa Ann, of Sunset, Utah; son James Emery, of Sterling, Va.; grandchildren Kelly, Holly and Samantha; sisters Rose and Delores, of Austin, Texas; and brothers Charles, Joe and John, of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Fort Stanton National Cemetery with Chuck Moon officiating.
The Schaad family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
