James Edward (Ed) Hughes went to be with the Lord on Feb. 7, 2014.
Ed was born Aug. 31, 1938, in Beaumont, Texas, to Louis Patrick and Mary Esther Hughes.
Ed is survived by two sons Michael Hughes, of Summerville, Fla., and Robert McCully and wife, Suzette, of Rapid City, S.D.; two daughters Jackie Hughes, of Florida, and Melody Jordan and husband, Karl, of Bedford, Texas; brother David Hughes and wife, Jean, of Houston, Texas; three sisters Patsy Nunley and husband, Stan, of Ingram, Texas, Carol McCracken and husband, Roy, of Kerrville, Texas, and Debbie McCalley and husband, Cliff, of Ingram; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Ed is preceded in death by both parents, his son Craig McCully and his beloved wife, Dolores May Hughes.
Ed attended Alamogordo High School, before joining the Navy. After discharge from the Navy, Ed had many ventures across the country until he finally settled back in Alamogordo to meet and marry his beloved Dolores.
He opened his own motorcycle shop, Roadrunner Kawasaki and H&H Harley Davidson, and enjoyed many years involved in the motorcycle arena. Ed enjoyed his involvement with the Toastmasters and Lions Club. Ed was a longtime member of the Lutheran church and had a very strong faith in our Lord.
A memorial service for Ed will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1212 Washington Ave., on with Jeff Swanson officiating.
