Janet I. (Tucker) Hobbs, 46, of Tularosa, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008.
Janet was born Dec. 7, 1961, in Ruidoso to Roy Jr. and Ila (Hall) Tucker. She spent her childhood in Three Rivers and attended Tularosa Public Schools. She received a bachelor's in education from Western New Mexico University and a master's of education from New Mexico State University. She married Ty Hobbs Jan. 7, 1987, in Tularosa. Janet taught many years at the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired before she became sick. Her great joy in life was teaching "her students."
Survivors include her husband, Ty, of the family home; five sisters, Kathy Danley, Debbie Tucker, Linda Johnson, Nancy Tucker and Leann Tucker, all of Alamogordo; a brother, Jimmie Tucker and his wife, Elain, of Tularosa; five nephews, Justin Tucker and his wife, Lynette, of Alamogordo, Jake Johnson, of Tularosa, Daniel Tucker and Todd Danley, of Alamogordo, and Donald Hobbs and his wife, Cassi, of Meeker, Colo.; three nieces, Ila Beth Danley and Shaylyn Johnson, of Alamogordo, and Vickie Crawford and her husband, Kelly, of Meeker, Colo.; her father and mother-in-law, Donald and June Hobbs, of Carrizozo; a brother-in-law, Kelly Hobbs and his wife, Toots, of Roswell; many great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and her best friend, Nancy Aprill, of High Rolls.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents, Roy Jr. and Dixie Tucker, and C.L. "Shorty" and Nancy Hall.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Tucker officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Tularosa.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Tucker, Todd Danley, Jake Johnson, Jet Tucker, Gary Hooper and Leslie Gililland. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Tucker, Dr. Dave Mitchell, Jeff Killegrew, Randall Martin, Donald Hobbs and Sam Fairchild.
Friends may call this evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
