Johnny Salazar Gomez passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, in Tularosa with family by his side. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, son and friend.

He was born on March 22, 1941, in Tularosa to Francisco and Vicenta Gomez.
Johnny was a free spirit who enjoyed life with his family and friends always nearby. He loved being outdoors. Camping, hunting, bonfires and riding his favorite horse Domingo were among some of his favorite activities. He was an animal lover and always had well-trained dogs by his side.
He is survived by four daughters, Carolyn and Stuart Bass, Maddie and Rick Ontiveros, Sonya Canto and Brandi Gomez and Ruben Sanchez; one son Diego Gomez and Krislyn Pacheco; 10 grandchildren: Jose, Corina, David, Eloy, Frankee, lsaah, Anecia, Elijah, Rylea and Zennaya; five great-grandchildren: Aubree, Donovan, Anahyee, Nehemiah and Lily; two brothers, Raymond Gomez and Freddie and Dolores Gomez; one sister Esther Herrera; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Vicenta Gomez; and brothers Frank Gomez, Ralph Gomez, Alex Gomez and Paul Gomez.
The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, 2012, at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa. Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10 a.m. with Father Carlos Espinosa as celebrant.
The Gomez family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
