Lena Busby Obituary

Lena Pauline Busby, 91
Lena Pauline Busby, 91, of Woodward, Okla., and a former Alamogordo resident, went to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at the Grace Living Center.
Lena Pauline Busby was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Adamsville, Tenn., to Manual and Mittie (Harris) Wright. She was reared in Adamsville and graduated from Adamsville High School in May 1940.
Pauline was united in marriage to Clifford Andrew Busby on April 3, 1946, in Hernando, Miss. They were blessed with three children, Arnold Wright, Noleta Kay and Stephen David. The family lived in Memphis, Tenn., Merrit Island, Fla., and El Paso before moving to Alamogordo in 1962.
Pauline worked as a waitress and later was the owner of a cafe. She went to work for White Sands National Monument, retiring in 1990. In July 1995, she moved to Woodward and had lived there since that time.
Pauline was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and had taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed cooking, reading, writing and, after receiving the Holy Ghost in May 1948, loved telling people and writing about Jesus. Pauline was a great woman of God who loved the Lord with great passion. She was a very loving and caring person who loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son Arnold and his wife, LaVon Busby, of Strasburg, Colo.; daughter Noleta Sparkman and her husband, Leonard, of Woodward; eight grandchildren: Suzanna Sparkman, Donna O'Hern, Colleen Bassoukos, Paul Busby, Jessica Busby, Mike Connell and John Connell; 12 great-grandchildren: Nathan Lewis, Heather Lewis, Stephen O'Hern, Hannah O'Hern, John O'Hern, Ellena Bassoukos, Katrina Bassoukos, Brandon Busby, Alissa Busby, Dianna Connell, Mariah Connell and Catlin Connell; and one great-great grandchild, Aydan Santillan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Manual and Mittie Wright; her husband Clifford Andrew Busby; son Stephen Busby; sisters Marie Raines and Helen Pitchford; grandson Bryan Connell; and great-great grandson Adrian Santillan.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 11, 2010, in the First Assembly of God Church in Woodward.
Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Assembly of God Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
