Lynda June Miller, 67, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Wednesday morning Oct. 9, 2013, succumbing to her brief, but arduous, battle with cancer. With a quiet spiritual strength, she was at peace knowing with full confidence that she was going to Heaven.
The Guest Book is expired.
Lynda had a long and fulfilling career as a civil servant, overseeing and managing services for families and children of military personnel. Her job fueled her love of travel, giving her the opportunity to work across the country and overseas. She most recently retired as Airman and Family Services Flight Chief at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base, Fla., at the age of 65. After her retirement, she volunteered her time at Covenant Hospice.
With a Masters of Science in Counseling and Psychology, her passion was people, none more so than her family to whom she devoted her life. She enjoyed listening to and helping others, enriching their lives with her kindness and wisdom. Incredibly bright, articulate and unfailingly patient, she always put the needs and concerns of others before her own, even through her final days.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Louise (nee McCormick) and Stanley Ellis, Sr.
She is survived by her former spouse Ronald Miller, her children Kimberly (Jay) Nauta, Shelly Miller and Ryan (Shannon) Miller; brother Stanley Ellis, Jr.; her grandchildren Michael Panetti, Tristin Nauta, Taylor Panetti, Brooke Hammonds, Justin Stone, Ashley Craig, Mason Miller, Randy Miller, Adam Miller and Sarah Miller; and three great-grandchildren.
Lynda will be laid to rest alongside her parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles in Hammond, La., during a private family service.
