Marguerite Guerra Yacubian, 93, passed away on Aug. 6, 2013, in Las Vegas, Nev. She was born on May 11, 1920, twin girls in Alamogordo, to Juan and Guadalupe Bencomo Guerra. Her twin sister died in infancy.
She attended schools in Alamogordo, graduating from Alamogordo High School in the 1940, and went on to International Business School in El Paso. She worked 28 years at Holloman Air Force Base, 10 years in civil engineering and 10 years at the Base Hospital in accounting and finance. The last eight years before retiring, she worked as a budget analyst for the 6585th Test Group at the High Speed Test Track receiving several awards and commendations. Marguerite enjoyed traveling, loved embroidery and spending time with her family specifically her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and served as treasurer for a term in the Church Council Group and was quite active with Knights of Columbus during Fiesta Day.
Survivors include her grandson Adrian Rodella and wife, Stephanie, of Cabot, Ark.; granddaughters Tanya Rodella Medina and husband, Eric, of Henderson, Nev., and Kristina Rodella-Voloshin and husband, Eddie, of Henderson; daughter-in-law Cynthia Popp, of Henderson; six great-grandchildren Daniel Medina, Kiana Medina, Maegan Rodella, Jessica Rodella, Ryan Rodella and Stallone Voloshin; nephew John R. Flores and wife, Jane; great nephews John R. Flores, Jr. and Michael Flores, of Placitas, N.M.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother Guadalupe Guerra, father Juan Rojo Guerra, infant twin sister, son Anthony Carl Rodella, sister Daria Flores and brothers Juan Guerra and Ignacio "Nacho" Cedillos.
The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by Deacon Pete Schumacher. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 at the church.
Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 6-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19 at the church prior to the Rosary
