Mary Ann Anderson, 86, of Weed, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, in Alamogordo.
She was born Dec. 29, 1923, in Abilene, Texas, to Lon and Birdie Hayhurst. She married Demry Lee Anderson Feb. 22, 1943, in Carlsbad. She was known as the most hospitable and most Christian lady you could ever meet. She loved everybody she ever met. She was an ideal grandmother - tough, but loving and accepting. She was known to be a bit of a flirt, too.
Survivors include her brother Bill Hayhurst, of Truth or Consequences; son David Anderson, of Silver City; seven grandchildren, LeAnn Pierce, Shannon Walker, Melissa McKinstry, Randy Walker, Daina Brown, Mike Anderson and Dawndee Prather; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Fay Walker; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at the Weed Community Center with Eddie Coleman officiating.
Interment will follow in Avis Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the Community Center where a meal will be served.
