Sophia Salgado Ramirez Obituary
Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother: Sophia was born on May 26, 1925 in Pecos, Texas, to Blas Salgado Sr. and Micaela Trujillo Salgado.
Sophia has been a resident of Alamogordo since 1987. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was always helping anyone who needed her. She loved to quilt, sew, helped her husband in every business he had. Her three daughters were her best friends and she loved to have all her grandkids and daughters together for special birthdays and holidays.
Sophia was survived by daughter Faye Paz and husband, Joe, of Alamogordo; five grandsons Jaime Paz Sr. and wife, Trisha, of Alamogordo; Troy Licon and wife, Carol, of Lyden, Wash.; Sergio Paz, of Artesia; Michael J. Marquez and wife, Amanda, of Alamogordo; and Jose Alonzo Chrisman, of El Paso; three granddaughters Yvonne Leamon and husband, Arnie, of Artesia; Saida Quintanilla, of Alamogordo; and Veronica Alvarado, of El Paso. Three brothers Salvador Salgado and wife, Olivia, of Roswell; Joe Salgado and wife, Emma, of Artesia; and Arthur Salgado and wife, Kathy, of Los Alamos; four sisters Eva Abott and husband, Roy, of Omaha, Neb.; Sally Brito and husband, Lazaro, of Alamogordo; Estella Jones and husband, Raymond, and Frances Salgado, all of Lake Arthur, N.M.; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Sophia is preceded in death by husband Alonzo A. Ramirez, daughters Carmen R. Chrisman and Rosie S. Ramirez, parents Blas and Micaela Salgado, brothers Blas Jr. and Adan Salgado and best friend and sister-in-law Helen O. Salgado.
The Rosary for Sophia Salgado Ramirez will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by Cecelia Garcia. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2013, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Mike Lindsay, Celebrant.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The Ramirez Family has entrusted their loved one the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
