Staff Sgt. John Michael Dobler, 34, of Holloman Air Force Base, passed away on Feb. 18, 2014, after a two-year-long battle with brain cancer.
John served in the United States Air Force from May 2003 to February 2014. He served tours in Afghanistan, North Korea, Germany and New Mexico. John was born Oct. 23, 1979, in Winter Haven, Fla. He graduated from Winter Haven High School and received his associates degree from Community College of the Air Force.
John Michael Dobler is survived by his wife of five years, Amanda Rollins Dobler, of Baton Rouge, La., and one-year old son Noah James Dobler. He is also survived by his parents Richard and Nancy Dobler, of Lake Wales, Fla.; his parents in-law The Rev. Dr. Jim and Christine Rollins, of Baton Rouge; his sister Barbara Dobler Dawes and husband, Chris Dawes, of Tampa, Fla.; his sister Karen Dobler Alexander and husband, David Alexander, of Winter Haven, Fla.; his sister in-law Abigail Rollins, of Washington, DC. John will also be forever remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at the Holloman Air Force Base Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church, 1318 14th St., in Alamogordo.
In his hometown, a memorial service will be at First Presbyterian Church in Winter Haven, at a later time and date.
