Thomas Edward Cumings (Tom), 82, passed away on Jan. 1, 2014.
He was born in Amarillo, Texas on Oct. 2, 1931, to LG (Little George) Cumings and Clover (Omey) Cumings.
Tom was a well-known Masonry Contractor for many years in Alamogordo. He never met a stranger and loved to spend time at Wal-Mart. He always knew he would find a familiar face or a new one to talk to (and we all know how Tom loved to talk). He loved to spend time up in Timberon where he owned property. If he could talk you into going, he would take you on a road trip and show you how beautiful everything was.
He is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Irene Cumings, his parents LG (Little George) Cumings, Clover (Omey) Cumings, his sister Barbara Young, three brothers Jack Cumings, Arnold Cumings, and Tex Cumings.
He is survived by his four children; daughter Tracey Sartin and husband Archie of Roswell, son Jeff Cumings of Timberon, daughter Julie Mayer and husband Steve of Timberon, a daughter Jennifer Garcia and husband Michael of Alamogordo, and a special granddaughter Katrina Mattke and husband Paul stationed in Belgium.
He had eleven grandchildren Scott Sartin, Tim Sartin, Jamie Thorton, Amanda Waldron, Jina Henry, Thomas Cumings, Amber Cumings, Katrina Mattke, Diona Stanfill, Kimberly Stanfill, and Jesslynn (Garcia) Franklin.
He had 23 great grandkids, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, who were all very fond of him. Uncle Tom as most called him will be greatly missed and always remembered.
"There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning." - Louis L'Amour
The Cumings family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place at PCS.
