William Clifton Walters (Bill), with Loretta, Shawna and Billie by his side, died peacefully on Tuesday Aug. 20, 2013, at his home in Alamogordo.
He was born Jan. 11, 1926 in El Paso, to William M. and Alma Frances Walters.
Bill will always be remembered for his success as a contractor, his giving heart and spirit, his dancing, his love of his dogs and, most importantly, the love he gave to his family and friends.
He was survived by his children Joyce Robertson (Eddie), Billie Lattanza, David Walters, Kathy Swope (Jimmy), Shawna Walters (Patricia), Michael Walters (Doreen), Chris Lynn (Kathleen) and James Lynn (Angie) and the mothers of his children Ida Woods and Loretta Adams. He was also survived by 18 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sister Alma Ruth Elsea, brother Albert Walters, many nieces and nephews and his faithful dog Grizzly.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother Viola Walters, his sisters Mary and Ruby, aunt Corrine Stack, daughter Phyllis Kathleen Walters and his son Raymond (Skipper) Lynn.
The family wishes to thank the generous hospice staff and volunteers that made our lives easier and his better as he faced the end of his precious life.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Bill's life will be held at a later date. For those of you that knew Bill you know the senior center was an important part of his life. Bill agreed that a great way to celebrate his life would be to make a donation in his name to the Alamo Senior Center, 2201 Puerto Rico Ave., Alamogordo, NM 88310; the Cloudcroft Senior Center - PO Box 609, Cloudcroft, New Mexico 88317 or Alamogordo Hospice and Homecare.
