Margarita "Margie" Brusuelas, 64, passed away on Feb. 26, 2014, at home, in Alamogordo. She was born on April 30, 1949, in Santa Fe, to Paul and Carmen (Prelo) Brusuelas.
She was one of the original members of Zia Therapy Center.
Survivors include her father Paul Brusuelas, of the family home; her brother Larry Sr. and wife, Glenda Brusuelas; three nephews Paul J. and wife, Stephanie Brusuelas, Larry Brusuelas, Jr. and Marc Brusuelas; one great-niece and two great-nephews Raegan, Michael and Lanson Brusuelas, all of Mescalero; her special caretaker of 15 years, Jennifer L. Heitzenrater, of Alamogordo; aunts Margie Garza and her husband, Lalo Garza, of Las Cruces, Josephine Smith, of Tularosa, Beatrice Melendrez and her husband, Isaac Melendrez, of Dona Ana, Roberta Montoya and her husband, George Montoya, of California, and Delores Sainz, of Tularosa; and two uncles Henry Prelo Sr. and his wife, Vivian Prelo, of Mescalero, and Marc and his wife, Cecilia Prelo, of California. Surviving extended family Joseph and Joella Herrera, Sybil Herrera and daughter Laila, Miguel (Michael) and Valerie Torres, George and Elizabeth Torres, Eunice Toya, Marlene Pellman and husband, Leland Pellman, and Florene Torres, all of Mescalero, as well as numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother Carmen Prelo Brusuelas, maternal grandparents Josephine and Marcelino Prelo, and her paternal grandparents Jose and Venancia Brusuelas.
The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at St. Joseph's Mission, in Mescalero, by Sister Robert Ann. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at St. Joseph's Mission with Father Christopher Williams, Celebrant.
Burial will follow at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery in Bent, N.M.
Pallbearers include Paul J. Brusuelas, Larry Brusuelas, Jr., Marc Brusuelas, Joe Torres, Leland Pellman and Marcus Bitela.
The family will greet friends from 2-4 p.m. Friday Feb. 28, 2014, at Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home.
