Adelina "Addie" Veronica Lucero died peacefully on July 6, 2014, in Alamogordo, at the age of 52.
Adelina is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Joan Lucero of Mission Viejo, Calif.; her sister-in-law, Amparo Lucero of San Pedro, Calif.; her nephew, Luis Lucero, and her nieces, Laura McMahon, Adriana Lucero and Amparo Lucero all living in California.
She is preceded in death by her parents Epimenio and Margie Lucero of Alamogordo and her brother, Robert Lucero of Lakewood, Calif.
She was lovingly cared for by Cecilia Szewczyk for 11 years.
Adelina was born on April 8, 1961, in Wilmington, Calif. She attended several special programs in California and transitioned to the Opportunity Center when she moved to Alamogordo with her parents in 1986. Recently, she had participated with the Zia Therapy Center and Active Solutions, INC., She worked part time at Holloman Air Force base for 17 years.
The rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 10, at Alamogordo Funeral Home. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, July 11, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father Mike Lindsay, celebrant.
The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home before the rosary.
Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Parish Hall.
