Malcolm Denney was born on July 3, 1937, in El Paso, Texas. He was raised in Cloudcroft and graduated from Cloudcroft High School in 1955.
After high school he joined the army and attended college at Western New Mexico University. In 1964 he married the love of his life, Cheryl Buie, and they raised their two sons, Glenn and Bill, in Cloudcroft. Malcolm worked for Otero County Electric Co-Operative in the late 1960s and left to open Denney Hardware in Cloudcroft. He went back to the Co-Op in 1972 and worked there until his retirement in 1997. He loved everything having to do with the railroad and was always on the go. Malcolm passed away on his 77th birthday, ,and his family rejoices that he was able to have his party in heaven with Cheryl.
Malcolm is survived by his son Glenn and wife Becky of Ruidoso; his son Bill and wife Shawna of Cloudcroft, and his grandchildren Hannah, Shelby, Lauren, Payton and Carson.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary at Trinity Baptist Church in High Rolls.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Malcolm's name to the Alzheimer's Unit at the Aristocrat in Alamogordo.
The Denney family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell to direct the funeral services.
