Ronald Dean Jeter, 71, passed away on August 6, 2014, in Alamogordo. He was born on March 9, 1943 in Albuquerque to Mayo and Marjorie (Dean) Jeter.

He graduated in 1961 from American DOE School in Chateauroux, France, and attended college in Sacramento, Calif. He served in the United State Air Force from 1965 to 1968 at Holloman Air Force Base. He married Janice Yates on Sept. 19, 1969, at Grace United Methodist Church, and they were co-owners of The Ink Well, Inc., retiring in 2009. He was an Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce ambassador. He served on the Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce board of directors and was a board member of Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center Foundation. He served as United Way Downtown chairman and was past president of the Alamogordo Rotary Club,1999-2000, and was a Paul Harris recipient.

Survivors include: his wife, Janice E. Jeter, of the family home; two daughters, Tiffany D. Ortiz of Albuquerque, and Susan L. Hutson and her husband Joe of Lake Villa, Ill.; four grandchildren: Chezerea and Marcus Ortiz of Albuquerque and Shaye and Ashley Hutson of Lake Villa, Ill.; his sister, Kathleen Jeter; two aunts, Lucile Carlile of Jay, Fla., and June Windsor of Clovis, Calif., and a brother-In-law, John Yates and his wife Stephanie, along with numerous other family members.

He was preceded in death by parents and two uncles, J. T. Carlile and Jim Windsor.

The memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Alamogordo Funeral Home, with Reverend Dustin Wilhite officiating.

The Jeter family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home, Inc. to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
