Valarie Hanson Obituary
Valarie Lynn Hanson passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at her home. She was born June 16, 1951, to Louis and Evelyn (Hoffman) Bouten, of Lansing, Mich. Valarie graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1969. On July 5, 1969, she married the love her of life, Michael Hanson, who was in the United States Air Force. After traveling from base to base, Val and Mike returned to Alamogordo in 1982.
Valarie has gone to heaven to be with her mom, Evelyn Hoffman; brother Robert; grandparents Robert and Marie Zeis; and many aunts and uncles.
Mourning her loss are her husband and soul mate of 41 years, Michael Hanson; daughter Kimberly and her husband, John Mumford, of Lebanon, Ill.; son Christopher and his wife, Shannon Hanson, of Alamogordo; father Earl Hoffman, of Alamogordo; sister Brenda and her husband, Jim Steward, of Albuquerque; brother Greg and his wife, Sheila Bouten, of Boles Acres; and sister Betty and her husband, Michael Hicks, of Cordova, Ala.
Valarie will also be dearly missed by her granddaughters Kayla Mumford, Ambrosia Hanson, Jorga Hanson, Amanda Morris, Heather Morris, Britney Morris and Geri Morris; grandsons Mathew Mumford, Nicolas Mumford, Robert Hanson, Aiden Shearin, Jackson Shearin and David Jones; one great-granddaughter, Morgan Shearin; nieces Mila Steward-Bauer, Teresa Jones and Jasmyn Dubois; nephew Evan Bouten; great-niece Kailey Bouten; and great-nephews Brandon Steward and Matthew Dubois.
Valarie spent her years as a loving and devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She spent her life taking care of others and had a wonderful smile and sense of humor.
The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by Deacon Pete Schumacher. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, following the rosary with Father Bryant Hausfeld, O.F.M., as celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Valarie's memory to the American Cancer Society or Kitty City Animal Rescue.
The Hanson family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place locally at PCS.

Dear Michael, Kimberley and Christopher-
I was so very sad to learn of the loss of your precious wife and mother. When someone you love dies, especially someone as young as Val, it leaves an empty spot in your hearts which could never be filled by any other person. What a wonderful gift we have from god in the gift of memories. When you close your eyes, you can see and remember Val just as she was when she was happy and healthy. Soon, in a new world of god's making, all pain, suffering and sickness will be gone forever. Until then, I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
