Lee W. Estenson, 77
Lee W. Estenson, 77, passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at his home in Alamogordo. He was born June 12, 1933, in Brandt, S.D. Lee lived in Alamogordo since 1969. He and his wife owned Alamo Janitorial for many years. Lee was in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired from the Air Force in 1973. After selling Alamo Janitorial he began a career at Holloman Air Force Base where he worked until his retirement in 1998.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was a very active member of the community. He loved camping, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons Adam and Andrew.
He is survived by his children Constance MacTerrnan, of China Grove, N.C., Ronald Estenson, of Alamogordo, and Rodney Estenson, of Helena, Mont.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters Kathryn LaMont, of Forest Lake, Minn., Geraldine Pavlick, of Topeka, Kan., and Mary Ann Estenson, of Annapolis, Md.; brothers Lyle Estenson, of Tacoma, Wash., Lowell Estenson and wife, Doris, of Mitchell, S.D., and Lester Estenson, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; numerous nieces and nephews; and his special friend Jessie Sida.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Jean (Rounds) Estenson; grandson Austin MacTerrnan; brother Larry; and sisters Mariah Christensen and Edna Cundy.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at the VFW on U.S. Highway 70 West in Alamogordo with a potluck reception following the service.
The Estenson family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
