Robert Sandoval, 74, passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, in Alamogordo. He was born Sept. 5, 1938, in Tularosa to Pantenadelone and Bennie (Salazar) Sandoval.

Robert spent his early years in Tularosa. When he was around 13 years old, his family moved to San Francisco. It was there that he met the love of his life, Irene Hickman.
They drove to Reno, Nev., on Jan. 1, 1958, and got married. They raised their seven children in San Francisco. In 1990, they moved their family to Las Cruces and in 2003 came to Alamogordo to retire.
Robert was the greatest husband, son, father, brother and uncle. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Irene Sandoval; mother Bennie M Salazar; seven children; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Robert had many hobbies that included hunting, fishing and motorcycle racing. He had a special horse named Charo that he loved very much. He was a carpenter by trade and made many beautiful pieces of furniture that his family will treasure forever. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The Sandoval family has entrusted their loved one to the care of PCS Direct Cremation Services.
