Jerry W. McIntosh, 75, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, in Alamogordo. He was born on Sept. 30, 1937, in Robinson, Ill., to Ernest and Doris McIntosh.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father Ernest McIntosh; mother Doris Dunlap; and brother Maurice McIntosh.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darlene; son Greg; daughter Penny; three granddaughters, Nicole, Samantha and Danielle; and son-in-law Dan Duda.
Also surviving are his two sisters, Louise Turner and Kathy English; his stepmother Nadine Estes, all of Nacogdoches, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
After growing up around Robinson and graduating high school, Jerry joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served his country for more than 20 years. He retired from active duty service in 1979.
He then worked as a Motorola electronics technician for nearly 10 years. While there, he was asked to perform professional duties in support of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, which was a very high honor asked of only the top technicians at Motorola.
Jerry then fully retired in 1988 and pursued other activities such as preparing income tax returns for the Voluntary Income Tax Assistance program at Holloman Air Force Base for 13 tax seasons.
In his later years, he pursued a number of interests. He was a loving son, brother, husband and father to his family, as well as a friend to many. He will be dearly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have known him.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Monte Vista Cemetery.
The family will greet friends at 1 p.m. at the Alamogordo Funeral Home chapel prior to the service.
The McIntosh family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
