He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Mark 10:14
Jacob Robert Norris was born Sept. 5, 2012, and arrived in heaven on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.
He is survived by his parents, John David and Tammie Norris; four sisters and one brother: Isabella, Hailee, Sierra, Abigale and J. D.; grandparents Dianna Norris, David Norris, and Robert and Gail Watters. Other survivors include Angelina Duran (aunt), Mandi Hess (aunt) and family, Michael Watters (uncle) and family, and Jennifer Walker (aunt) and family.
Jacob has other special aunts and uncles, plus a "bunch" of cousins who all loved him.
Although Jacob was with us only four months and one day, everyone recognized his contagious smile and gentle ways. He would smile when mama said, "Hello, baby boy. You're so handsome." He filled his mama's heart with so much joy when she just held him on her lap. His daddy would greet him with, "Hello, papa you're so handsome" and he would smile. His mommy and daddy's faces beamed when Jacob talked to them and giggled.
In the daily comings and goings, Jacob's brother and sisters would detour their route to say "Hi, baby brother" and kiss him on the head or tickle his chin and cheeks.
Mama kept Jacob with her at church. Jacob became the "mascot" of Trinity Sunday School class at Grace Methodist. His presence brought joy, laughter and sometimes interruptions to the Sunday lessons.
Jacob seemed to bring peace to those around him. He truly was a "piece of heaven."
Jacob is in God's hands now and his family was truly blessed by the short time they had with him.
Funeral services for Jacob will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harry Riser officiating.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Alamogordo Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery in Alamogordo.
