Raul Marquez, 70 passed away Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. He was born Oct. 8, 1942, in Visitador, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Elidoro and Juana Marquez.

He was a resident of the Mayhill area for 43 years and worked at Burgett Floral for that time. He loved working with plants and enjoyed helping people with their growing needs.
Raul will be deeply missed by his family and those who loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Ana Maria; his daughter Ana Lilia and her boyfriend, Michael Torrez, and his son Gerardo "Gerald"; his sister Maria Elena, of Dallas; his brother Alberto, of Zacatecas, Mexico; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many plants in many yards and homes in the mountain area.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church in Cloudcroft with Christopher Williams as celebrant. Interment will follow at James Canyon Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 9-11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Sacred Heart Church.
The Marquez family has entrusted their loved one to the care of the Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements.
