David William Mitchell, 35, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, in Alamogordo. He was born Oct. 2, 1977, in Fort Campbell, Ky.
David graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1996. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy shortly thereafter. He returned to the Alamogordo area, where he attended college at the University of Texas at El Paso.
David was the man behind the scenes. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone in need. The twinkle in his eyes and accompanying smile was enough to brighten even the worst of days. He was loved and adored by his surviving family.
Survivors include his mother Yong Mitchell, of Alamogordo; father and stepmother Patrick and Armida Mitchell, of El Paso; brother and sister-in-law Jason and Amanda Mitchell, of Winchester, Calif.; and nephews Dale, Dallas and Grady Mitchell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Alamogordo Funeral Home with Chuck Moon officiating. Interment will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
