Ray Leo Aguilar, 83, passed away Monday, March 18, 2013, with his family by his side.He was a lifelong resident of Tularosa. He was born to Eduardo and Maxie Aguilar.
Leo is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Stella; his children Mary Ann Boggio, of Albuquerque; Doris and husband, Vince Budris, of Tijeras Canyon; and son Leonard Aguilar and wife, Teresa, of Santa Maria, Calif. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Zachary Boggio and fiancée, Maria Zinser, of Albuquerque; Ashley Vega and husband, Dusty of Moriarty, and Jordan Budris, of Albuquerque; his brother Ernesto Martinez, of Los Angeles; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents Eduardo and Maxie Aguilar, brother Eddie Aguilar, sister Esther and son-in-law Jim Boggio.
He served our country in the U.S. Army and National Guard, receiving an honorable discharge from both. He worked at Holloman Air Force Base as a fireman before retiring after 27 years of service and was a recipient of the Air Force Civilian Award for Valor. Following retirement, he chose a second career as a barber for the next 13 years.
Leo served on the Planning and Zoning Committee for the Village of Tularosa and on the Advisory Committee for the Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of the St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church and served as Mayordomo for two terms.
A rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013. Mass of the Resurrection will follow the rosary at 10 a.m. Services will be held at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in Tularosa. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Reception will follow immediately after interment at the Parish Hall.
