LaDonna Poindexter Obituary

LaDonna Lockhart Poindexter, 67, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 5, 2013, due to a three-year struggle with kidney and lung disease.
Born in El Paso in 1945, she was a lifelong resident of Otero County, but spent the last year of her life in Tuscon, Ariz., receiving medical care.
She was the only child of Ross G. and Blanche Lockhart, of Tularosa. She was married 45 years to Kenneth L. Poindexter Sr., until his death in 2009.
LaDonna was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. After her children were grown, she spent more than 20 years along with her husband delivering mail on rural routes outside Tularosa. LaDonna's hobbies included sewing, gardening, jelly making and wood crafts.
LaDonna is survived by one stepson Kenneth (Debra) L. Poindexter Jr., of Roswell; four children: Richard Poindexter, of Alamogordo, Kyle Poindexter, of Dallas, Kinnette (Aaron) Maynard, of Tucson, and Linnette Poindexter, of Tampa, Fla. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for LaDonna will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 2290 Hamilton Road.
Everyone who knew and loved her are urged to attend.
The family kindly requests donations be made in her name to Casas Church (memo: Shoe Drive), 10801 N. La Cholla Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85742.

I loved your mom very much, I worked with her and Kenneth at the Tularosa Post Office for a year. I loved coming in everyday and talking to them in the morning. I will miss her greatly, Peace be with the Pointdexter Family. You are in my thoughts and prayers...

I didn't know a soul when I moved to Tularosa; Ms. Lockhart was my 'mail lady', her old fashioned friendliness, and her efficiency when delivering the mail in her old Datsun, 'Orange Peal', often made the day a bit brighter for a newcomer.
Rest in Peace.
