Ruth Turpin Brown passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013, in Alamogordo. Ruth was born Oct. 28, 1922, to White and Alma Taylor Turpin, in Rolling Fork, Miss. She graduated from Natchez High School in Natchez, Miss. In 1945, she graduated from Louisiana State University. Accepting a teaching position with the Alamogordo Public Schools, she moved to Alamogordo in 1945 to begin her 35 years as a professional educator.
She was a member of PEO and the local retired educators association. She was an avid reader, bridge player and, until recent years, traveler.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 62 years, Martin "Shorty" Brown; daughters Ricki Brown, of Abilene, Texas, and Vicki (Sam) Dazzo, of Albuquerque; son Dale (Barbara) Brown, of Las Cruces; and four wonderful grandchildren.
There will be a private family memorial service at a later date.
