He served in the United States Air Force for 29 years, continuing his career with Lockheed Martin at Holloman Air Force Base, McDonald Douglas and Boeing serving overseas work assignments as an instructor. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War, a member of American Legion and the Moose.

Throughout his career, Geno played softball and coached women's league. He will be remembered by many as the Hillfilly's "Coach" spending the majority of his time at the softball fields. He was inducted into the NM USSSA Hall of Fame in 2010.
Geno was a coach, a mentor and a friend to all that had the pleasure of meeting him! Softball was his passion, always living for the game. It has been said that "if Angels played softball, he would be their coach!" We can hear him now blowing that whistle!
