CLARKE, Charles John Marvin (Chuck) January 3, 1934 - December 10, 2013 . It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father and granddad. Chuck is survived by his loving wife Bonnie, daughter Nancy James, son-in-law Wayne, son Kelly Clarke and grandsons David and Shaun James. Chuck was born January 3, 1934 in Fort Erie, Ontario. At 17 he joined the Navy where he served for 10 years. He came to Port Alberni in 1961 and worked at various jobs until he started working as a heavy duty mechanic in Cameron-Franklin Division until his retirement. He was a 50 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #293 as well as BPOE (Elks) and the Alberni Valley Curling Club. Chuck was an active, quick witted man, who enjoyed a good joke, a cold beer and the company of family and friends. He loved Nascar Racing, maritime campouts and fishing trips. He enjoyed working with wood and crafted many amazing projects for family and friends. He had a special love for animals and was always bringing strays home; the latest his little "Maggie" pup. The family would like to thank the dedicated nurses and care aides at both W.C.G.H. and Echo Village for caring for him these last 9 months. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday December 22, 2013 from 1pm - 3pm at the Steelworkers Local 1-85 Hall, 4904 Montrose Street. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations can be made in Chuck's memory to a charity of your choice. Stories and condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.yatesfuneral.ca
