ORTH, William James . In the early morning hours of Saturday, October 26, 2013, Bill passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his home in Port Alberni at the age of 72. Bill was born July 8, 1941 in Port Alberni, BC. He started working at McLean's Mill when he was just 15 years old and soon moved to various jobs at Somass Mill where he was best known as the First Aid attendant for 47 years. Bill also had the entrepreneurial spirit and was the owner/operator of AV Cedar and other endeavors. His life pleasures included wood working, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. We will miss his warm smile and his easy going demeanor, but we will rest easier knowing he lived a happy life full of rich experiences. He was predeceased by his parents Cleo William Orth and Margaret Elizabeth Orth. Bill is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bonnie-Lynn Orth, three children Dale Johnson (Leah), Leigh-Ann Johnson (Mike) and Karla Johnson (Clive), sisters Ellen Grise (Gerry), Edna Boomars as well as 3 grandchildren Graham, Sydney and Joshua and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, November 8th, 2013 at the Chapel of Memories Cremation has taken place.
