Francisca "Panchita" Ruiz Cantu Obituary
BENAVIDES - Francisca Ruiz Cantu "Panchita", 85, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 17, 2018 after a short illness. She was born in Santa Elena Ranch on September 17, 1932 to her parents, Cecilio and Jesusa Saenz, and was raised by her adopted parents, Miguel and Dolores Ruiz. She was a 1953 graduate of Benavides High School and retired from Benavides ISD after 20 years as a cafeteria worker. She enjoyed cooking, baking, going to bingos, gambling and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vidal G. Cantu; adopted parents, Miguel and Dolores Ruiz; birth parents, Cecilio and Jesusa Saenz; five brothers, Tomas Saenz, Deodato, Ponciano, Juan and Margarito Ruiz; three sisters, Cleodolinda R. Torres, Rumalda Ibarra, and Helen Perez.

She is survived by three sons, Oscar (Velma) Cantu, Vidal (San Juanita) Cantu, Valentin (Hilma) Cantu all of Benavides, Texas; four daughters, Maria Dolores (Luis) Perez, Ernestina (Noe) Gonzalez and Dalia (Amando) Elizondo all of Benavides, Texas; Raquel (Rumaldo) Vasquez of San Diego, Texas; one brother, Abel (Refugia) Saenz of Beeville, Texas; one sister, Ramonsita († Osvaldo) Cano of Freer, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary to be held at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church in Benavides, Texas. Interment will follow at the Benavides Cemetery in Benavides, Texas.

A special thanks to La Paloma Nursing Home, New Horizon Hospice and Dr. Sergio Cantu and all the nursing staff, that took care of our mother.
