Funeral services for Jerry Lee Spears, 63, of Lone Wolf, will be at the People's Cooperative Funeral Home in Lone Wolf on Monday, Aug.26 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Scott DeVour officiating. Burial will be at the Erick Cemetery under the direction of People's Cooperative Funeral Home with Charlie Floyd officiating. Jerry Lee "Pops" Spears was born to Eugene "Gene" and Laura Jane (Hoffman) Spears in Logan on Oct. 23, 1949, and departed this life in Sayre on Aug. 21, 2013.
Pops grew up in Cordell and graduated from Cordell High School in 1968. He married Lia Kaye Davis in Arlington, Texas on Dec. 2, 1969. They were for married 33 years. He later married Josephine "Josie" Esparza Lopez on Nov. 26, 2006. They were for married for five years. He worked for his son at Spears Metal Works doing concrete and metal buildings. He attended First Baptist Church in Lone Wolf. He enjoyed singing Karaoke, fishing, working in the yard, being a cutup and joker and could fix most anything.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Spears.
Survivors include a son Jerry Spears, Jr. and wife Stacy of Blair; three stepchildren, Steven Esparza and wife Patti of Clinton, Barbara and husband Keith Brooks of Hollis, and Loretta Esparza of Mangum; three brothers, Don Spears of Arlington, Paul Spears of Azle, Texas, and Eddie Spears of Waxahachie, Texas; two sisters, Peggy and husband Sandy Noel of Vidor, Texas, and Wanda Moore of Lindsey; six grandchildren, Hunter Spears and fiancé Christy Lipe, Brady Spears, Brock Lewallen, Taylor Spears, Brant Lewallen and Jenny Spears; a great-grandchild, Jayden Lee Spears; seven stepgrandchildren, Ben Esparza, Julie Esparza, Colby Brooks, Danica Brooks, Mark Brooks, Brianna Esparza and Brent Esparza; a stepgreat-grandchild Wesley Esparza; and many other relatives and friends.
