Jim Earl Chumley, 61, of Vernon, Texas, died on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, in Vernon.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Garry Worden. Interment will be held at Altus Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Jim was born Monday, July 14, 1952 in Altus. He was the son of the late Clyde Chumley and the late Mildred Marie Hamersley Chumley. He was a graduate of Altus High School in 1972. He served in the US Air Force from 1973-1977 serving in Vietnam. He was a Utility Operator for Rhodia for 33 years retiring in 2008. He enjoyed hunting, fishing spending time with his family, enjoyed playing guitar he played in a band in his younger days. He was a former member of Hedrick Church of Christ.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Jenny Chumley of Vernon; son, Jimmy Chumley of Houston, Texas; one grandson, Tyler Chumley of Vernon; one brother, Phil Chumley and wife Priscila of Tuttle; two sisters, Connie Gotowala and husband Robert of Oklahoma City, Brenda Mehr and husband Lloyd of Chandler, Ariz.; one nephew, Josh Mehr of Queen Creek, Ariz.; numerous aunts, uncle and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Janet Jones.
