Pat Richard Spaulding

Pat Richard Spaulding, 65, of Olustee, passed away Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at his residence, in Olustee. Mr. Spaulding was born in Vinita on April 5, 1948, to Patrick Porter and Joann June (Clark) Spaulding.

After graduating from Big Cabin School in 1966, Pat was drafted into the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for 20 years. On July 25, 1969, Pat married the love of his life, Janine Henderson, in Shreveport, La., and she preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2006, after 37 wonderful years of marriage.

With Pat's duty station at Barksdale AFB, La., Janine and the children spent their time living in Bossier City, La. while Pat traveled to many different assignments during the Vietnam War. In 1982, Pat was assigned to Altus Air Force Base and they made their new home in Olustee. In 1981, Pat and Janine began caring for foster children and continued that talent for over 20 years and passed the tradition on to their own children. Pat retired from the Air Force on Dec. 31, 1989, and lived in Olustee until his death. In his spare time Pat enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, doing mechanic work, selling on eBay, watching college softball, spending time with his family and being a foster grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Janine.

He is survived by four children, Richie Basaldua of Olustee, Sarah Garcia and husband Raymond of Olustee, Lori Reyes and husband Ricky of Olustee and Jeremy Spaulding and wife Christina of Junction City, Kan.; 14 grandchildren, Mitchell Basaldua and wife Kayla, Hannah Spaulding, Isaiah Spaulding, Joleigh Spaulding, Ericka Garcia, Patrick Garcia, Katelynn Garcia, Krissy Garcia, Paco Reyes, Caleb Reyes, Kallee Reyes, Tyler Reyes, Alyssa Spaulding and Scarlett Spaulding; one great-grandson, Easton Carter Basaldua; one brother, Brent Grimes and wife Joni of Chouteau; one sister, Dawn Posey and husband Rick of Maize; and his stepmother, Peggy Spaulding of Chouteau ;along with many other friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., today at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Altom officiating. Interment will follow at the Olustee Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
