Scott Ryan Turklay, 25, a former Altus resident, passed from this life on April 16, 2014 in Tucson, Ariz. He had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was born in historic West Berlin, West Germany on May 5, 1988 while the Berlin Wall was still standing.
He drove his family crazy at times, but that's not what he'll be remembered for. He personified loyalty. He was a son, a husband, an engineer, an aviator, a friend, a comedian, and a patriot. His God, and his family and friends know the man he would have become and that is what we're going to miss.
He is survived by his wife, Jenny Turklay of Tucson; his mother, Rena Gibbons of Tucson; his dad and step-mom, Daniel and Lisa Turklay of Norman; his big brother, Daniel Turklay of Nashville, Tenn.; his half-brother, Shawn Whitmore of Waterville, Maine ; his step-sisters, Sarah Black of Ardmore, and Courtney Johnston of Houston, Texas; his step-brother, Dane Garcia of Oklahoma City; his grandfather, Daniel Turklay of Moundsville, W.V.; and very special friend, Michael "Bat" Masterson of Oklahoma City.
A Memorial Mass will be held May 16 at 11 a.m. at the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8650 N. Shannon Road in Tucson.
