Barbara Hocker, 80, of Elmer, passed away early Sunday morning, Dec. 15, 2013, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Mrs. Hocker was born in Hitchcock on Dec. 14, 1933, to Elvest Edward and Pauline (Patterson) Osburn. After graduating from Hitchcock, she married Bill Hocker on Nov. 21, 1953, in Watonga. Bill preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1998 after 45 wonderful years of marriage. They established their first home in Hitchcock and later moved to Enid in 1954. They later moved to Oklahoma City where Bill managed a Goodyear store. In 1971, the family moved to Jackson County where Barbara lived until her death. Barbara enjoyed cooking, the 4th of July and Christmas, but caring for her family and enjoying her grandchildren and their activities was what she enjoyed most of all in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; two sons, Tracey Hocker in 2013 and Nathan Hocker in 2013; and a sister, Patricia Hursh.
She is survived by four children, Kim Hocker and wife Cynthia of Andover, Kan., George Hocker and wife KiSun of Oklahoma City, Jesse Hocker and wife Kimmie of Arkansas City, Kan., and Tami Butler and husband Kirk of Elmer; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Hocker; one sister, Penny Lamle of Watonga; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Elmer Methodist Church with Lynn Rudd officiating. Cremation services have been entrusted to Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
