Michael John Blonien, 58, of Altus, passed away Thursday afternoon, Feb. 13, 2014, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus.
Mike was born in Milwaukee, Wisc. on Jan. 21, 1956, to Charles C. and Jean E. (Fandrei) Blonien. The Blonien family moved to Altus from Milwaukee in 1962 to establish "Sano's", the first pizza location in Altus. Attending Altus Schools for 12 years, Mike graduated from Altus High School in 1974 and continued his education at the University of Tulsa, where he received a baseball scholarship. Returning to Altus, Mike spent the next three years working at Sano's before moving to Seattle, Wash. where he ran a successful residential alarm company. In the early 1990s, Mike returned to Altus and joined his brother, Greg, in running the Upper Room and Bamboo Tree, now closed, and in the loan business, which he ran until his death. In 1991, he met the love of his life, Patsy Villarreal, and they spent the next 23 wonderful years together before his untimely death. Mike was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and snow skier but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his girls, whom he loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Greg, in 2012 and his mother in 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Villarreal Blonien, of the home; his four children, Brandon Reyes and wife Jessica of Weatherford, Texas, Priscilla Wright and husband Ryan of Wichita, Kan., Megan Blonien of Altus and Natalie Blonien of Altus; his father, Charles C.
