Albert Samuel Knox Obituary
Albert Samuel Knox, 81, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 at Bingham Memorial Skilled Nursing and Rehab in Blackfoot.
He was born Sept. 10, 1935, in Shelley, and is the son of Albert S. Knox and Nellie Ellis Knox. He graduated from Blackfoot High School where he lettered in boxing and football. He served in the Idaho National Guard for eight years.
He served an apprenticeship in the IBEW of Local 449, in Pocatello, working as a construction electrician for over 50 years in various states. He was a resident of Blackfoot all his life.
In March 1955, he married Neta L. Wadsworth in the Idaho Falls Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. To this union five children were born: Barbara L. (Kirk) Nelson, Al Samuel (Leslie) Knox, John J. (Wendy) Knox, Richard L. (Cindy) Knox, and Gary A. Knox. They were later divorced.
As a member of the LDS church, he served as a counselor and superintendent in the Sunday School and counselor in the Elder's Quorum. Sam enjoyed helping numerous friends with their cattle plus building a few saddles and doing woodworking projects. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, horseback riding, bowling, and golfing, After retirement, he spent several winters in Arizona.
He is survived by his five children and two sisters, Sherrie Higley of Salt Lake City, and Elizabeth (Steve) Oleson of Blackfoot and numerous grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday Feb. 25 at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. Family and friends will gather for a viewing prior to the services from 2-3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the services in the Grove City Cemetery.
