Barbara Francis (Eames) Callison Obituary
Barbara Francis Eames Callison, 73, of Blackfoot, passed away  Wednesday, January 21, 2015, peacefully at her home with her husband by her side, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's.
Barbara was born April 6, 1937 to Daryl and Alice Eames in State Center, Iowa; the first of 4 daughters.  She attended grade school at a country school in Chester, Iowa and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1954.  As a young girl she worked with her sisters on the family farm.
Barbara met the love of her life, Darrell Jack Callison, at a 4-H ice cream social in 1955.  After a brief courtship the two were married on January 8, 1956 at the Chester Center Church in Grinnell, Iowa.  They honeymooned out west where they fell in love with the scenery and mountains.  From their union four children were born, each in a different state!  Barbara and Darrell settled in Blackfoot in 1965 and they immediately began active lives in the community.  She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, where she was often in charge of the annual cookie sale; resulting in her nickname the "cookie lady"; best known for her delicious chocolate turtle cookies.  She was a lifelong member and past president of the Western States Angus Auxiliary.  A founder and member of the Idaho Cowbells. A longtime member and leader in the 4-H community.  A member of numerous bowling leagues, where she held offices and served on boards.  She has received many city, state and national awards for both bowling and cattle ventures.
Barbara was a socialite, volunteering and joining as many clubs and organizations as she could find.  She was known for her endless energy, constant enthusiasm and bright and bubbly personality.  She had a great love of many things, activities and people.  But her greatest love was family.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Darrell Callison of Blackfoot; children: Marilyn (George) Brookshire, Arnold (Teresa) Callison, all of Blackfoot, Donald Callison (Jim McCann) of Sacramento, California and Ronald (Patti) Callison of Blackfoot; seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents Daryl and Alice Eames, sister, Dolly Pearce and an infant brother.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Hawker Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Monday, January 26, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Blackfoot.  A luncheon will  immediately follow.  Condolences may be sent to: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1110 Parkway Drive, Blackfoot, Idaho 83221 or to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl, New York, NY 10001.
