Brent Gamble Obituary
Brent Atkinson Gamble, 76, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.
Brent was born July 23, 1941 in Franklin, Idaho to Clyde Jensen Gamble and Bonnie Dean Atkinson Gamble.
He graduated from Preston High School and participated in FFA where he served as president and received many awards. Following graduation he attended Utah State University.
Brent met Marjorie Merritt on a blind date. On July 13, 1962 they were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and they have been happily married for 55 years.
Brent and Marjorie moved out to Moreland near his parents' farm and farmed there until 1969. They then moved to their current home in Moreland where they continued to farm.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as Bishop, Ward Clerk, Sunday school teacher, counselor in the Bishopric and on the High Council.
In his free time he enjoyed, 4-wheeling, motorbikes, floating the river, shooting clay pigeons, and being around livestock and their calves. Brent had a really deep love for farming and was Dairyman of the Year for 2 years. He took great pride in raising his organic hay and wheat. He was also an excellent welder and could fix about anything. He was very much a family man and loved spending time with them. He loved his wife and made a point to always take her out on their weekly dates.
Brent is survived by his wife Marjorie, of Blackfoot; sons, Dirk (Jan) Gamble, Sean Gamble, David (Martha) Gamble, Brady Gamble; daughters, Kandace Kepler, Shelly Post; mother, Bonnie Gamble; brother, Gary Gamble; sisters, Rhea Crow, Betty Stibal, Lisa Williams; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Gamble and son-in-law Darrel Kepler.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Blackfoot West Stake Center. Family will meet with friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Hawker Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the Stake Center. Interment will follow at the Moreland Cemetery.
