Cyprien "Cyp" Gentillon Obituary
Cyprien "Cyp" Gentillon, 95, of Pingree, Idaho passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014.
Cyp was born Dec. 28, 1918 in Firth, Idaho to Cyprien and Marie Josephine Palany Gentillon. He spent his youth in Firth, attending grade school and high school in the Firth School District.
On Sept. 1, 1939, Cyp married Marjorie Daw in St. Anthony, Idaho. Later in his life Cyp was a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and shortly thereafter he and Marge were sealed together and to their family in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
He worked for the railroad until he could start farming. He started farming in Osgood beginning in 1944. In 1952 they moved to Pingree where they purchased a farm and raised potatoes, grain and hay and ran a dairy. He was active in many farm organizations and served as past local president of the National Farmers Organization. In his free time he enjoyed bowling and square dancing with his wife. He worked hard and gave 100% to anything he did. He spent time fishing at Antelope Creek and traveling later in life. After retirement he took impeccable care of his yard.
He and his wife Marge served a mission in 1988-89 to Nauvoo, Illinois, where he worked the Blacksmith Shop making horseshoes, nail rings, bricks and other blacksmith trade items.  Also he served at the historic Sarah Kimball Home where he kept the yard and garden as immaculate as his own back in Pingree.
Cyp is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Pingree; daughter, Carolyn (Jeff) Lynn, Idaho Falls; sons, Ronald (Vickie) Gentillon of Pingree and Robert Joel (Marie) Gentillon of West Valley City, Utah;  brothers, Roland of Idaho Falls, Maurice (Rae) and Marcel (Doris) Gentillon of Firth; 23 grandchildren; 47 great- grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Vicki Mauger, infant daughter, Linda Rae, infant son, David Lynn; and brothers, Octave and Boyd Gentillon.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2014 at the Pingree LDS Church. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot and for one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
