David LaMar Olsen, 67, of Moreland, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 from complications of a heart attack at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
David was born August 22, 1949 in Rigby, Idaho, to Ariel LaMar and Lois Christiansen Olsen. He was the first of six children. He lived most of his life in Moreland, graduating from Snake River High School. He was to celebrate his 50 year class reunion this coming June.
David served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Denmark, having to learn the language while there. He was still in touch with a family he was able to teach and baptize.
David went to college in Moscow and after his mission he attended Ricks College.
When David returned from his mission, he fell in love with Kristine Talbot, they were married June 25, 1971 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He loved her very much and they were blessed with seven children. Kristine passed away May 15, 2000 and David's heart was broken. He later found Karen Marie Strupp Phillips, they were married July 5, 2002.
David has worked many jobs, from moving pipe in the summers, painting cars, driving cars and driving harvest trucks, finally retiring from working at the INL after many years of employment there.
David's favorite things were: family, cars, water-skiing, boating and snow skiing with his kids.
David will be remembered by his wife, Karen, of Moreland; daughters: Tami (Christian) Roberts, of Idaho Falls, Heather (Larry) Manring, of Pocatello, Hayley (Jeremy Burrill) Olsen, of Idaho Falls, Shayna (Arlin Chirstensen) Olsen of Pocatello; sons: Shawn (Adelina) Olsen, of Idaho Falls, Trevor (Krista) Olsen, of Pocatello, Tristan (Jessica) Olsen, of West Haven, Utah; and step-children: Shannon (Blake) Loveland, of Cambridge, Idaho, Shelby (Jonathan) De La Cerda, of Idaho Falls, Nathan (Lori) Phillips, Jesse (Julia) Phillips, Lisa Phillips, Polleen (Bryan) Hansen, all of Blackfoot; Amy Jo (Patrick) Fredrickson, of Caldwell, Idaho, Rachel (Joshua) Purcell, of Las Vegas, Nevada; his mother, Lois Olsen, of Blackfoot; two brothers, Dennis and Delan (Heidi); two sisters, Sharon (John) Fisher, LaDene Walker.
