Eleanor Ann Hutchison Obituary
Eleanor Ann Hutchison, 88, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at her home.
Eleanor was born on Jan. 3, 1929 in Jerome, Pennsylvania, as the seventh child born to Frederic A. Taylor and Mary Catherine Leonard-Taylor.
Eleanor married the love of her life, John W. Hutchison of Blackfoot, Idaho on Feb. 18, 1946.
Eleanor managed the kitchen at the hospital in Challis, Idaho for several years. She also managed the school lunch program for the Custer County School District in Challis, Idaho until her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. While living in Nevada, Eleanor worked for the Clark County School District managing several school lunch programs in the valley and for the Vocational Technical School. Her hospitality and generous nature was always offered to those in need or people just passing through who needed a good meal and a warm place to sleep for a night or two.
Eleanor was an excellent seamstress. She made clothing for all of her family members and many of the extended family. Her husband, John, wore beautiful tailored western suits. She worked as a professional seamstress creating stage costumes for performers on the Las Vegas Strip ad did alterations for customers of the boutiques located in the hotels.
She was co-owner of the largest Feed and Grain Store in Las Vegas, P&H Feeds, for many years. In addition to her other work, she worked in the store, managing employees, scheduling deliveries to customers and ordering merchandise. In 1989, the store was sold. She and John moved back to Blackfoot, Idaho. After John passed away, Eleanor worked as a Hospice Care Provider until her health mandated her retirement.
Eleanor's belief in ad love for the Lord Jesus Christ was freely shared with everyone she talked with. Her strong faith and unwavering belief helped man find their way to God and the teachings in the bible about God's mercy, love and wisdom. Eleanor and John served many years in the Desert Ministry Program in Nevada. The family provided church services, Sunday school, counseling services and Vacation Bible School in the small rural communities in Southern Nevada. She was an active member of the Gideon's International organizations. She donated her time and talents to providing supplies and meeting the needs of missionary families working around the world.
Eleanor is missed. Her family has always depended on her good advice and wisdom when difficult decisions were needed. The values and truths that she lived by she taught to her family members. Each member of the family is equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to live life successfully. We thank her for sharing with us her wisdom and skills.
Eleanor is survived by her son John W. (Nancee) Hutchison; daughter C. Inez (Kelly) Hutchison-Bingham, daughter Juanita M. Hutchison; seventeen (17) grandchildren; thirty (30) great-grandchildren, and one (1) great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her father, mother, two sisters, four brothers, her husband, John W. Hutchison, and her son, Leonard Taylor Hutchison.
A celebration of life ceremony with take place in the Moreland Cemetery, followed by a picnic and time of fellowship with take place the first or second Saturday in June 2017. The date, time, and location of the picnic will be announced and publicized soon.
Per Eleanor's request, cremation services were taken care of by Hawker Funeral Home.
