Elia Martinez Obituary
Elia Martinez, 61, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 16, 1955 in Alice, Texas the daughter of Jesus "Jesse" Guerra and Ofelia Ramos Guerra.
Elia came to Blackfoot as a child and attended St. Margaret's Catholic School. She then attended and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1974. She was the first Miss S.E. Idaho Mexican American.
On June 15, 1974, she married her sweetheart, Carlos M. Martinez in Blackfoot, Idaho.
Together they had 3 Children, Jose Lino, Linna and Corina.
She was a member of the St. Bernard's Catholic Church. She was very active in fundraiser's and benefits for the church.
Elia worked at Idaho First National Bank, Valley Bank, S.E. District Health Department and for Dr. Gail Fields until her retirement.
She enjoyed singing, dancing, sewing, and making cakes for all occasions. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Carlos of Blackfoot; son, Jose (Becky) Martinez of Blackfoot; daughters, Linna (Daniel) DeLaCruz of Blackfoot, Corina (Elias Lee) Garcia of Pocatello,; brothers, Elias Guerra of Blackfoot, Eli Guerra of Caldwell, Eliseo "Mick" Guerra of Blackfoot, Elisandro "Hondo" Guerra of Portland, OR; sisters, Elida (Fred) Garcia of Blackfoot and Elizabeth (Jeff) Ewing of Seattle, WA;  twelve grandchildren; Carlos Ruben (Cortney), Allysia, Alx, A.J., Aaric, Mateo, Micaela, Avian, Anestazia, Alyxis, Isaac, CaseyLee, and one great grandchild "Carlos Andres" on his way.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jesus Guerra and Ofelia Guerra Lora and a sister, Elisa Heck.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 27, 2017, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. There will be a Rosary service held on Sunday evening at 4 p.m. Following the Rosary the family will continue to greet friends until 8 p.m.
Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
