Irene Martina Anderson Obituary
Irene Martina Anderson, 92, a longtime resident of Blackfoot and beloved mother passed away March 17, 2016 at the Gables in Blackfoot.
She was born April 29, 1923 in Firth, Idaho to Eugene and Florence Wernette. Irene attended grade school at St. Margaret's Catholic Boarding School, where she would stay during the week and only go home on the weekends. She graduated from Firth High School and continued her education at the Business College in Pocatello, Idaho.
Irene married her best friend and soul mate, Mont Anderson on October 5, 1942 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, the Church where she was a member from the day she was baptized and remained a proud and active member. Irene and Mont bought their farm in Moreland, Idaho in the spring of 1949. She supported him by helping with all of the needs of a farmer and raising their ten children. Irene was an expert seamstress, sewing beautiful clothes for her daughters. She sewed the wedding gown for her future daughter in-law, Carla along with the dresses for the wedding party. Irene inherited her mother's talent for gardening, her yard was pristine and filled with beautiful flowers.
Irene worked at Bingham Memorial Hospital for 18 years and retired as the Lead of the Credit Department. Irene and Mont's retirement years were filled with fishing trips and traveling to visit their children and grandchildren.  
Irene is survived by her children, Eugene Anderson, Yorktown VA, Merlin (JoAnn) Anderson, Gering, NB, Kay (Kip) Higley, Roseburg, OR, Yvonne (Dennis) Moore, Elko, NV, Steve (Melanie) Anderson, Idaho Falls, ID, George (Carla) Anderson, Blackfoot, ID, daughter-in-law, Nancy Anderson, Blackfoot, ID, her 29 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Mont Anderson and children, Neil Anderson, Edward Anderson, Joan Anderson and Thayne Anderson, brother, Florian Wernette and sister, Clara Lent. She is survived by her brother, George (Jerri) Wernette. 
A rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, Idaho with a viewing to follow.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2016 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Grove City Cemetery.
