Katherine (Terry) Ellis Obituary
Katherine Terry Ellis, 66, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014 at Bingham Memorial Hospital due to sudden heart failure. She has been battling follicular lymphoma for the past five years.
Kathy was born July 30, 1948 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada to Archie Terry and Muriel Katherine Webster. She spent her childhood in Lethbridge, graduating from L.C.I. high school. She then graduated from Ricks College and attended BYU. She went on to finish her education at Idaho State University to become a fifth grade teacher at Snake River Middle School.
On Dec. 28, 1968 Kathy married Bryce G. Ellis in the Cardston, Alberta, Canada LDS Temple.
Kathy spent 19 years as a teacher at Snake River Middle School, teaching fifth and sixth grade.
In her free time she enjoyed working in her flower beds and garden, quilting, sewing, traveling, painting, playing guitar and piano and horseback riding. Her greatest love was spending time and laughing with her family and grandchildren.
Kathy is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Young Women's presidency, as a Primary teacher and Primary presidency and spent many years at girls camp. She served in the Blackfoot Young Single Adult 1st ward. She was currently serving as a counselor in the Relief Society.
She is survived by her husband, Bryce Ellis of Moreland; children, Georjene (Trent) Taylor of Idaho Falls; Marcie Lynn Bushling of Lake Isabella, California; Sheri (Mark) Norlen of Idaho Falls; Brandon (Anita) Ellis of Blackfoot; Teasha (Jon) Walker of Bakersfield, California; Brock (Sarah) Ellis of Las Vegas, Nevada and Brian (Shelby) Ellis of Shelley, Idaho; brothers, Douglas (Coral) Terry of Salem, Utah; Donald (Pat) Terry of Surray, British Columbia; Kent (Doris) Terry of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; sister-in-law, Donna Terry of Lethbridge, Albert Canada; and 19 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Muriel Terry, brother, Roger; and three grandchildren, McKenzie, Kylee, and Tyler.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 at the Blackfoot North West Stake Center with Bishop Kay Martin conducting. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot, and for one hour prior to services at the church.
