Keith Owen Humpherys Obituary
Keith Owen Humpherys, 91 of Ririe, Idaho died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family Sunday, May 3, 2015.
 
He was born Sept 1, 1923, in Firth, Idaho to Earl Humpherys and Beulah Grace Womack Humpherys. Keith's mother passed away when he was 8 years old and he with his 3 siblings were raised by his father for the rest of their childhood.  Later, his father married Genevieve Backus and they had 2 children.  He was raised and attended schools in the Firth area and graduated from Firth High School in 1941.  He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the 10th Fighter Squadron during WWII in the European Theater.  On August 26, 1945 he married Dahrl Petersen in Blackfoot, Idaho; their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 19, 1964.  They were blessed with 2 daughters and 1 son.
 
Keith was manager of Best Way Building Center in Driggs and Ririe and later worked for Boise Cascade in Idaho Falls.  After retiring from Boise Cascade, he worked for the Bureau of Reclamation at Palisades, Idaho which he enjoyed very much.  He owned the Ririe Roller Skating Rink, where many fun community memories were made with parties, dancing, and skating. 
 
Keith was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he served in many capacities including a full time Temple Mission, along with his wife, in Chicago, Illinois in 1994. He was also a member of the Lions Club and Driggs Rotary International
 
Keith attended community sporting events even into his 90's, and coached Ririe Little League Baseball.  He also enjoyed carpentry, fishing, square-dancing, bowling, crossword puzzles, music and especially spending time with his family.  He and his family would attend the 10th Fighter Squadron Reunion every 3 years.  He loved to travel and would take his family on a vacation every year.    
 
He is survived by his wife, Dahrl Humpherys of Ririe, daughters, Debra Jo (Kent) Sperry, of Shelton, Diane Kay (Jerry) Hopkins, of Tracy, CA, son, Kurtis Keith (Lisa) Humpherys, of Coltman, sister, Annette (Robert) Brown, of Ririe, brother-in-law Vance Bolander, of Firth, 12 grandchildren and 32, great grandchildren.  
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, step mother, 1 sister, Darlene Bolander, 3 brothers, Lewis Humpherys, Ronald Humpherys, Stephen Humpherys, 1 grandson, Kurtis Dale Humpherys and 1 great grandchild, William Jacob Hopkins.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Ririe LDS Stake Center, 14061 N. 130 E. Ririe.  The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services on Saturday at the church.  Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery, services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.  Condolences may be sent to the family on line at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com
