Larene Wixom Obituary
Larene Wixom, 80, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away on June 22, 2017 at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Larene is survived by her husband, Vaughn Ervin Wixom, four children, Shaunna Dee Bruderer (Norm), Paulette Burnside (Jerry), Bret Vaughn Wixom (Terri), and Bradley Ervin Wixom (Jana), two brothers, Normand Grant Oldham (Barbara) and Lloyd Paul Oldham (Faye), 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Grant Oldham and Pearl Evagene (Walker) Oldham, her sister, MelloDee Thornton, and her grandson, Justin Jerry Burnside.
Larene was born in Jerome, Idaho on October 30, 1936. After she met Vaughn Wixom, it didn't take long for her to know that he was the man she was going to marry. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on December 28, 1955. Throughout her entire life, Larene has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she faithfully served in various callings and organizations.
Those who knew Larene well know that she was a talented seamstress who made a profession in wedding and wedding dress design, an avid artist who had a collection of both structural and creative sketches, a beautiful dancer who kept dancing almost as long as she lived, and an active genealogist who had a unique spiritual connection with her deceased ancestors. But those who knew her best know that she held the most importance in being a steadfast mother who became a rock and example to her children, a loving grandmother who shared her talents and testimony with her grandchildren, a devoted wife who never has and never will leave her husband's side, and a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ who has always held fast to being a servant in His kingdom.
Funeral services will be held at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S Shilling Ave., Blackfoot, ID on June 29, 2017 at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held at Hawker Funeral Home on June 28, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. as well as an hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday.
