Loa Bonita Painter Obituary
Loa Bonita Painter, 89, of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017 at her home.
Bonita was born May 22, 1928 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Joseph Clifford and Mary Mable Smart Osguthorpe.
She attended and graduated from Blackfoot High School. Bonita studied elementary and secondary education and guidance counseling at Idaho State University. There, she earned her Master's Degree in Education.
Bonita married Melvin Jay Painter on Sept. 6, 1950 in the Idaho Falls Temple.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her activities in church included Sunday school and working with the youth on the Stake level. She was a genealogist for 20 years at the Tri-state Family Library.
Bonita worked for the Pocatello school district for seven years in the elementary and middle schools.
She was an English teacher and guidance counselor at the Snake River Junior High School and Snake River High School, Moreland and Rockford Elementary for 36 years.
She loved art and was an oil and watercolor painter. She enjoyed singing and playing the French horn. 
She loved everyone she met and never turned away from the needy or forgotten.
Bonita is survived by her husband; her daughter, Tracy (Delynn) Purser, of Poulsbo, Washington; son, Michael (Sharon) Painter of Portland, Ore.; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Marjorie Tschanz, Norma Jolley and Virgie Roubidoux.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Blackfoot East LDS Stake Center. Burial will follow at the Riverside Thomas Cemetery.
